In July 2024, we gave an update on the settlement and discontinuance of the court proceedings commenced by the Independent Panels of Aljunied-Hougang Town Council and Sengkang Town Councils against us and other parties.  As these court cases are concluded, there is no longer a need to maintain the joint bank account no. 396-309-388-6 which we opened to facilitate our fund-raising appeal in 2018.

This Statement is issued to inform the public about how we have dealt with the balance sums in the account, which stood at $5,826.14 ¹.

We have decided to donate the balance monies to the WP Community Fund, a registered charity set up by the Workers’ Party to serve families in need.   Accordingly, we have donated a sum of $5,821.14 to the WP Community Fund which, together with the costs of the cashier’s order of $5, has utilised the entire balance.  The bank account is now closed.

The court proceedings have taken seven years to conclude.  We thank everyone who has, in one way or another, walked with us through this episode.

1. At the last update on our Account, on 22 March 2019, a sum of $3,000 remained in the bank account.  However, as the account is PayNow-linked to Sylvia Lim’s NRIC, there have been other sums credited into the account due to her by various parties over the years.  As it would take time to trace these credits to make a refund to Sylvia, she has decided to forego claiming these sums.
